About

Olle Helin (b. 1993, Stockholm) is based in Malmö, Sweden. In his practice he examines the foundations of painting, and for several years he has made his own paint out of found materials. The borders of painting are in that way extended beyond the studio walls, and the paint is charged with new qualities, site-specific, historical, subjective. His process is research-based and the method is structured. Although the work often take form as paintings, it is rarely something predetermined: he also works with text, installation, among other mediums.

Olle Helin was educated at Konstfack (bfa 2019) and Malmö Art Academy (mfa 2021). Solo exhibitons include Bruten Vit at Galleri Arnstedt (2023), Colour Research at Ronneby Konsthall (2022), Lokalfärg at Galleri Gerlesborg (2022), and Rörsjögatan 10, Malmö (2021). Selected group exhibitions: Molekyl Gallery, Malmö (2023), Rochester Art Center, Minnesota (2022-2023), Galleri Arnstedt, Ö. Karup (2022). He has been awarded scholarships by Malmö Stad (2023), the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (2022), Edstrandska Stiftelsen (2021), and the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts (2020, 2021).
